Here is an outstanding and historic collection from the LANE THEATRE that was located on Staten Island NY , New York City . It was located at 168 New Dorp Lane in New Dorp Staten Island . You are offerding on the actual letters used on the marquee of thetheater. You are offerding on all 12 sheet metal letters . The 12 original metal / neon letters were removed during a renovation of the theatre that was done in the 1970’s . There are 3 sets of letters that all spell LANE . There are 2 smaller size letter sets that measure approx.34“ tall . These letters were used on the 2 sided of the outdoor marquee . The 4 larger letters measure approx. 41“ tall ( and 8\" deep ) and were used on the front of the marquee . All the letters were wired for neon lights but there are no glass tubes left . The theatre and the metal letters date to 1938 . As you can see the metal letters have seen better days . The metal has rusted ( and rotted away ) and several letters are coated with tar to protect it from the foul NY weather . You can also see the original wires hanging out of the letters . I acquired these letters from the collector that originally removed them from the bldg . After the theatre closed it became a comedy club and its now a church . The building was landmarked by the City of New York because of its ART DECO / ART MODERNEdesign . The theatre was originally built by Charles, Lewis and Elias Moses and designed by architect John Eberson . Eberson was famous for his movie theatre designs . Here is a once in a lifetime chance to own a theatre marque from an historic and landmarked New York City / NYC theatre .THE LADDER IN THE PHOTO IS A 6\' ( SIX FOOT ) AND USED FOR SCALE .
