# 9 GRISWOLD ERIE PA 3 POUR LIPPED SKILLET SLANT LOGO/ HEART RING P/N 710D For Sale

We have for sale an opportunity to own one of the most RARE pieces that Griswold ever made. Information on this pan has never been included in any Reference Book published to date, that I or any one that I have discussed it with is aware of.This pan is a # 9 Griswold black iron skillet with the Slant logo and a Heat Ring AND THREE POUR LIPS. It has a pattern number 710D.It is 11\" in diameter and 2 1/4\" deep. There is no damage such as cracks, chips, rust, pitting, or repairs. It is not warped or bowed and it sits flat on a Formica counter with no undue movement.The Griswold slant logo with heat ring was produced between 1909 and 1929, so one could assume that it could have been produced during or shortly after that time period.Why such a pan was made is a mystery. There are many stories and I am aware of none that are documented. One such, is that one of the Griswold management had a few made to give several of his family members and the total produced was less than 10. Only a few along with this one are known to exist and a couple of them are reported to be damaged.This particular pan has been used some as evidenced by some wear on the Heat Ring along with some very minor scratches on the cooking surface from metal utensils, I suspect.What makes this pan so special is the THIRD POURING LIP which is located directly opposite the handle on the outer edge of the pan. It is exactly the same size as the other two lips which are in their normal position on the sides. Outside of that, there isn\'t much more that I can tell you about this RARE piece.The owner of this pan is not a true Griswold collector and is willing to sell it provided the offerding reaches a reasonable amount.There is a modest reserve that has been placed on this sale which includes both FREE STANDARD SHIPPING AND INSURANCE unless you request special handling or are a Florida resident that requires Sales Tax.
