*SCARCE* MARGUERITE KIRMSE BRONZE SEALYHAM TERRIER DOG FIGURINE For Sale

A scarce and desirable bronze Sealyham Terrier dog figurine by canine artist Marguerite Kirmse (1885-1954). Kirmse\'s dog bronzes are among the most highly coveted by serious dog collectors, and among the more scarce of these bronzes is this Sealyham Terrier. To my current knowledge, the breeds included in her miniature bronze line include the Sealyham Terrier, Dachshund, Pointer, Setter, German Shepherd and three different Scottish Terriers. These miniature bronzes were produced by the Gorham Foundry, some of them in extremely limited quantities (perhaps 20-30 pieces each per the literature available). The last sale record of this Sealyham was its sale at Joshua Kodner sale House in Dania Beach, FL. for $3600.00 (plus buyer\'s premium) in 2022.This lost wax bronze is marked as shown in the photo. It, along with others of the rarer Kirmse bronzes, is not marked with her name. I have seen this consistently over the 40+ years that I have bought and sold dog collectibles, including collecting for myself. Lack of her name on the rarer bronzes can confuse less experienced collectors, and I have never found an explanation for it. However, these bronzes are well documented with images that verify their absolute authenticity. The bronze measures 2 1/4\" tall by 2 3/4\" long. It is in outstanding vintage condition, with lovely aged patina, and no bends, dents, scratches, repairs or restorations.
