# SHEAFFER "SPECIAL" SNORKEL PEN/PEN SET, BLACK, ORIG BOX, GPT, c1956, EX.COND For Sale

This listing is for a circa 1956SHEAFFER SNORKEL "SPECIAL" fountain pen and pencil set in BLACK, still in it's original cardboard box.Characteristic of this line, the pieces have gold filled trim with 1/4" cap bands, Palladium/Silver open nib, bothclips marked SHEAFFER'S, Touchdown filler and a snorkel tube with a flat rather than beveled opening at the end. On this particular set the gold filled trim is perfect and there are no flaws to the plastic. Both barrel imprints are bold and show no wear. Although both the Touchdown filler and snorkel operation are smooth, the pen does not take up ink and will require new seals and probably a new sac. The pen is equipped with an excellent fine point, open Palladium/Silver nib in excellent condition. It is marked and alsoengravedF6. The pencil operates perfectly using .036" lead. It has full original eraser and extra lead in the magazine. While the pen on this set has clearly been inked,the set has also obviously seen very little to almost nil usage. The cardboard box is missing a little paperon the top and front edges, has split corners on the front of the lid, and shows some wear. Inside is an instruction pamphlet with a print date of 10/56.Pretty set and quite uncommon.
