Looking a little closer I have noticed a small crack in the cast iron above and below the lock, it is small and I had not noticed it earlier. It seems to be solid still and not creating a weak point mostly due to the lock still being in place and functional. I was asked if this machine functions, when I went to put a nickel in the slot it would not fit creating a bit of a mystery. It turns out this machine was made in Calgary Canada for which 5 cent pieces at that time where made of silver as opposed to nickel in Canada and about half the size of the dime there. When the front plate is off the mechanism seems to work fine, but I do not have the proper coin to test the rest, it all seems to be in working order, complete, and in nice shape but I do not have the coin to test 100 percent.
