Original \"ELEPHANT-THREE STARS\" Mechanical Bank Cast Iron Antique Americana Toy For Sale

For sale tonight is a cast iron antique mechanical bank called the \"ELEPHANT-THREE STARS\".It was originally sold as the \"Jumbo Bank\". In order to avoid confusion with a later elephant bank with the name Jumbo on it, it is now known as the \"Elephant-Three Stars\". The bank is well made and is a fine casting. Not much is known of this particular mechanical bank except that it was made about the turn of the century in the late 1890\'s or early 1900\'s. The words \"PAT APP\'L FOR\" are engraved on the elephant\'s trunk. To operate, a coin is placed on the elephant\'s trunk. The tail is then depressed causing the trunk to moveupward depositing the coin into the elephant\'s head. This bank is scarce and is seldom seen at sale.

The bank worksproperly and is approximately 7 1/2\" long, 5\" high and 2 1/2\" wide. This handsomebank will make a wonderful addition to your collection..Good luck.
