Recent junk shop find is this amber glass fire grenade, with orange peel surface to the body. It was mouth blown in a two piece mold, with a cold ground lip, and the glass has various sized bubbles of trapped air.
It still has its original wire attachment and its original paper label to the neck.
The central band is boldly embossed GRENADE, and the paper label is written GRENADE EXTINCTRICE L\'INCOMPARABLE.
The grenade leans to one side at a marked angle, the base having sagged - presumably when having been removed from the mold and still hot during the cooling process.
My researches to date indicate that this is a historically important new find in the fire grenade collecting world. This mold, embossing, and brand name have never been seen prior to this one surfacing.
I will add that I asked the proprietor of the shop where I baught it if, by chance, he could get any more from the same source. To no avail, this is the only one.
The only condition issue with this grenade is that there is a one inch tight crack to the base, which appears to be an in manufacture cooling fault, in all likelihood associated with the faulty sagging of the base. This crack is difficult to spot and even more difficult to photograph, but I have managed to capture it in the last two photographs.
This item is completeley empty. Furthermore, upon the advice of a well known and respected expert in the field, I have rinsed it in fresh water about twenty times to remove all traces of salts - which aparrently removes any likelihood of the crack growing.
The packaging will not only be super secure, it will be thermally insulated to avoid any potential fast temperature changes.
