Offered is a lovely vintage and large Native American (or First Nation) Quill Birchbark and Sweetgrass Square Basket Box. This is from the Great Lakes region and is from the early 1900s, made in the old style with natural quills designed in an intricate design on top with a maple leaf and criss-cross design on the side. It is probably Ojibwe or Ottawa made but could also be Micmac. This is a large piece, probably sold as a handkerchief basket. It measures 7\" across and over 3\" tall. As you can see from the pictures, this does show some wear on sides. The top is still in beautiful condition but the sides have quill loss. These older natural quill baskets are truly collector\'s items even with a bit of wear. Our Native American and First Nation items have been collected from various places--sales, estate sales, pow wows and craft stores from our travels. Many of our Quill Boxes come from Manitoulin Island, where we spend part of each summer. We hate to let some of these items go but with our children in college, it\'s time to liquidate some of the collection and share our items with others.
Important Information for all items:
*We will gladly combine orders to save you on shipping charges. Please email for a combined invoice before paying. Sorry, however, that I can\'t combine book/paper product purchases with collectibles due to media mail restrictions.
I will send this back to Canada, either first class international or priority, as long as you understand that first class has no guarantees, can\'t be insured, and can take a long time to arrive. The USPS has raised rates recently, so even first class international can be expensive. Also, you are responsible for any customs fees your country may charge.
* Please contact us before leaving negative response if something isn\'t right with your item. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase .
