This wonderfulOld piece has aGreat, Vintage, Ike/Eisenhower design,with embroidered 101st Airborne Division & 1st Allied Airborne patches, is made of Wool, dated 1944, an Original, Vintage example from the World War II era and is Rare to Find. This comes from the personal collection of Paratrooper Anacleto Leone. He removed the pins and ribbon bars to frame with his medals, as seen in the background of the above newspaper photo, but his Original shoulder patches remain.
Anacleto \"Cleto\" Leonewas a combat Medic in the 101st Airborne Division, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, Easy Company, the outfit featured in the movie \"Band of Brothers\". Leone jumped into Europe at Normandy on D-Day and into Holland in Operation Market Garden, and was awarded a Bronze Star by General Dwight D. Eisenhower himself for his actions at Bastogne during the Battle of The Bulge.
