1780 Revolutionary War Pennsylvania bond for a horse for Washington\'s Army: $180.27
Original partly printed Bucks County, Pennsylvania interest bearing bond given for the purchase of a horse for the use of Washington\'s Army, dated August 17, 1780. The owner of the bond, George Wiher of Milford, has furnished a six-year-old bay horse standing 15 hands high, valued at 65 pounds by two local freeholders. Signed by John Thompson, of Bucks County. On the reverse is a note that the bond was paid on August 8, 1781, a total of 68 pounds 15 shillings, including interest. This bond is worthy of further research, and is an interesting example of how our War for Independence was financed. Size about 5 1/2\" x 7 3/4\". $3 shipping.
