1850\'s STAFFORDSHIRE BLACK AMERICANA PEARLWARE CHILD\'S PLATE UNCLE TOMS CABIN:
$100.00

Wonderful and exceptionally rare, 1850\'s Soft Paste, Pearlware Staffordshire, Black Americana / Anti-Slavery Transferware Child’s Uncle Tom\'s Cabin Plate featuring an intimate scene from the narrative depicting Little Eva dressing the slave Uncle Tom in flower garlands.

This fantastic Anti-Slavery Plate measures approx. 6 3/8” in diameter and has an elaborately hand decorated border and a central, black transfer image titled \"Uncle Tom\'s Cabin\" and sub-titled \"Eva Dressing Uncle Tom\". Although the Plate is unmarked and undated, it was likely produced in the years between the publication of Harriett Beecher Stowe\'s \"Uncle Tom\'s Cabin\" (1852) and 1863 (the year of American Emancipation).

The Image depicts Uncle Tom seated in a garden setting with Little Eva placing flower garlands around his neck.

This fantastic and early, Staffordshire, Soft Paste Anti-Slavery / Uncle Tom\'s Cabin Transferware Plate is in very good condition. The Plate displays beautifully with no staining, soiling or discoloration to the surface. There is a single small chip to the underside of the plate\'s rim (not visible from the front of the Plate) and 2 short and very tight hairlines that are evident on the back side of the Plate (these are glaze hairlines and cannot be seen or felt on the front of the Plate). There are no other chips, cracks, repairs or other physical damage of any kind. The early, soft paste is clean, bright and VERY attractive on the top surface while there is some VERY light crazing on the back.

A very rare and simply wonderful, 1850s Soft Paste, Staffordshire Pearlware, Black Americana / Anti-Slavery Transferware Child’s Uncle Tom\'s Cabin Plate and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!
