1870\'s Candle-Powered Magic Lantern Projector w/Exhibitor\'s Cabinet & Slides: $9.95
Before there was internet streaming, there was television. Before there was television, there were \"talking\" motion pictures. Before there were talking motion pictures, there were silent films. Before there were silent films, there was...the Magic Lantern. No electricity, no projectionist\'s lamp, nothing but a candle, a mirror, a lens, and a hand-painted glass slide. This lantern comes with its original exhibitor\'s cabinet and a few slides that are ancient but still in pretty good condition, with nice color saturation and no glass damage. The silvering on the mirror is flaking as you can see, but it\'s still sufficiently reflective to work. The early lens is anonymously manufactured (like the lantern itself), but the brass housing is beautifully machined, and the lens elements are still reasonably clear (I don\'t know the focal length). The focusing rack moves smoothly. The bellows are in pretty good shape, with some minor chips and cracks, but nothing bad.Cabinet measures approximately 24\" x 8\" x 9\". Shipping weight approximately 40 lb.This is a heavy item, so shipping costs for buyers overseas will be high. Overseas buyer should contact me in advance for a shipping quote and confirmation that I can get this viewer to you in a timely fashion. sale participants with no prior response history or with hidden response should contact me before placing a offer.
