Here's an early Rochester Optical 4 x 5 Premier camera. The camera dates to the late 1880's and was among the first American-made detective cameras.
As you can see in the photographs, condition is very good to excellent throughout. The original faux leather covering is still intact, with only moderate wear, and the polished wood parts are pristine, as is the celluloid ID tag. Original ROC lens is clear, and the front gate still closes snugly. Room in film compartment for a roll film back or 4 plate holders, but only 1 plate holder is included. The outside release button for the back door is long gone, so the door needs to be released with a pencil, pen or something similar. The shutter works but it's very sluggish. The rack and pinion focusing mechanism is working. Leather handle is original and still in good condition. Top viewfinder is working okay. Side viewfinder has some type of residue on the outside of the prism. There is no ground glass in the rear frame; don't know if there's supposed to be or not. In fact, I know very little about this camera (except that it's difficult to find an example that's this clean), so please look at the pictures carefully and consider them a vital part of the description.
The camera measures approximately 12" x 7" x 7". Shipping weight approximately 10 lb. That's about it. I will pack it carefully and properly. sale participants with no prior response history or with hidden response should contact me before placing a offer. Buyer prepays and includes shipping.
