1891 Mettlach Beer Stein #1997 George Ehret Hell Gate Brewery 25 Years Ann. NYC For Sale

Offered hereis an original Mettlach lidded beer stein, pattern #1997, made in 1890 to commemorate the 25th year (1866-1891) of George Ehret\'s Hell Gate Brewery located between 91st and 94th Streets between Second and Third Avenues in Manhattan, NYC. The stein features a portrait of brewer George Ehret on the front as well as colorful incised wheat and hops. The pewter lid has an inset painted ceramic disk with the logo of the brewery. The thumb lift is a patriotic American eagle over a stars and bars shield which reads: United States, and E Pluribus Unum. Designed by Matthias Hein, and signed Hein in the ceramic. The stein measures 9 1/8\" to the top of the thumb lift. The condition is excellent. No chips, cracks, repairs or even fleabites. Proper marks on the underside. I have offered two others of this design in past sales, but this is by far the nicest. Not It is offered with no hidden reserve and a low starting offer.
