1892 Rochester Optical Premo D Wood Plate Camera w/Ground Glass & Plate Holders For Sale

I\'m listing another eclectic selection of antiques and collectibles, and I suspect that there will be something of interest to just about everybody. Here\'s an early leather-clad Premo D camera sold by Rochester Optical ca. 1890-98. Camera is in nice condition throughout, given its age, with normal leather wear and chipping on the camera body -- and two small leather overlays on the front and back door buttons -- but a leather exterior that\'s still largely intact, as you can see in the photographs. Polished mahogany interior surfaces are in excellent to near mint condition, with no significant signs of wear or aging, and their finish is original. Original brass hardware is in excellent condition, with a beautiful patina and no rust or corrosion. Beautiful brass lens barrel too. Nice red bellows, with no damage or mis-folds. The shutter is complete and working (occasionally a bit sluggish, though). The ground glass focusing plate is original and in excellent condition, with no cracks or other damage, and it slides easily into the retaining brackets. All but one of the camera door buttons are functioning properly (the front latch needs to be adjusted to secure the door). Carrying strap is original and in good condition.Lens is clear. The viewfinder is hazy -- as is typical -- but otherwise in excellent condition. The camera comes with 2 plate holders that are complete and working.Shipping weight will be about 5 lb.
