1898 CAST IRON TOY FLOOR TRAIN RAILROAD LOCOMOTIVE ENGINE By DENT HARDWARE Co For Sale

Wonderful, 1898 Cast Iron, \"L.S. & M.S.\" Railroad Train Engine and coal tender manufactured by Dent Hardware Company of Fullerton, Pennsylvania. This early, Cast Iron Railroad Train Engine measures 9” long x 3 1/2\" tall x 2 1/4\" wide. The matching Cast Iron Coal Tender measures approx. 4 1/2\" long x 2\" tall x 2\" wide. The Tender has the letters \"L.S. & M.S\" cast into both sides (standing for \"Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway\"). Not exactly sure how the Locomotive Engine and the Coal Tender were originally coupled but overall the Engine and tender measures approx. 13 1/4\" long (we do not have the original coupler). Engine has a patent date of June 18, 1898.

This rare and very attractive, Dent Cast Iron Train Engine and tender is in very good condition. It has never been repainted, touched-up, restored or altered in any way. It retains 90%+ of its original surface paint (see the scans below). There is no surface oxidation and there are no crack, breaks, chips, repairs or physical damage to the cast iron of the body of the Engine or the Tender. Overall this is a substantial and well preserved example of this rare and very attractive Dent Floor Railroad Train Engine and matching Coal Tender.
