18th Century Russian Caucasian Shashka, Damascus Wootz Blade, Silver Mounts: $2450.00
Caveat Emptor: I am not a sword expert, but based on my limited research, this appears to be a late 18th century Russian / Caucasian Shashka sword or excellent quality. You may know better, it may be Turkish or Islamic, but to me it has the Russian look. Please consult the photos and judge for yourelf. It is 35.5\" long overall, has a solid burl wood handle attached to the tang with silver rivets, along with a silver backstrap (tested positive for .925 sterling silver). The blade is a fine arced shape, full length blood groove / fuller with fine detail (see last photo). The blade is made of Damascus steel, possibly made from a Wootz ingot, and possibly of Polish origin. There is a single nick near the tip (shown in photo), and a little roughness here and there, otherwise the blade is sharp and in good condition. The blade is not perfectly straight, it sort of zig-zags back and forth a little if you look down the spine; it can probably be straightened by someone who know what he\'s doing (not me). There is no sheath. Repeat NO SHEATH.Questions? Please ask, I will do my best to answer.
