Up for sale is a1909 B/W Photo The Immortal 600 UCV Reunion MEMPHIS MISSISSIPPI FONTAINE RARE. The photo appears to be in very good condition given its age. The upper right has water damage, but has not affected the image. The surrounding mat is missing part of the lower right, has water damage and is dirty in places. I am no expert. Please see all photos.
On June 8, 1909 the Society of The Immortal 600 met at Fransolia Hotel in Memphis, TN during the 19th Annual UCV Reunion. The photo shows those members in attendance. The names correspond with numbers. There are some whose names you will recognize if you are familiar with The Immortal 600 including J. Ogden Murray, J.L. Hempstead, J.W. Matthews, Lamar Fontaine, etc. These brave prisoners of war survived inhumane conditions put upon them by the Union soldiers including being used as human shields against their own guns.
Please note that numbers 22 and 31 both say R. M. Miller. The name that is missing is J.M. Allen. Mr. Miller is number 31 and Mr. Allen is number 22.
This photo will come with provenance as it has been in Major Lamar Fontaine\'s family since 1909.
