1910 Edison Standard \"D\" Phonograph w/Cygnet Horn & 2/4 Min. Gearing * Excellent For Sale

I\'m listing an outstandingassortment of mechanical, technological and musical antiques this week, and I suspect that there will be something to interest just about everyone.Here\'s a beautiful 1910 Edison Standard cylinder phonograph with factory combination gearing (2 & 4 minute), a \"C\" reproducer (for playing all types of 2 minute cylinders) and an original Edison No. 10 Cygnet horn. The phonograph is in excellent working condition and needs nothing to be enjoyed immediately. It plays great, it sounds great (see video below), and it will arrive at your door with detailed, easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions so you won\'t have to guess what to do once you\'ve unpacked it.Condition of the phonograph is excellent throughout. Original Japanned finish on the casting is still deep black and glossy; the original bedplate decorations are still prominent, with only minimalwear; and the original Edison signature is still crisp. Original gear cover, with some paint wear and oxidation on the rear exterior, as you can see in the pics. The motor is in excellent condition, with ample torque. The governor assembly is working properly, and the pitch doesn\'t waver as a cylinder plays through. Winding crank has normal oxidation and pitting but is structurally sound. All of the gearing beneath the bedplate is clean, and the 2/4 minute transmission on the upper deck is functioning correctly. The cabinet is outstanding, with a beautifully preserved original finish, and the original cabinet decal is in excellent condition. The original paper label on the underside of the lid is nearly perfect, as you and see. The No. 10 Cygnet horn is original and in excellent condition, with original paint and decals. Scattered minor marks and normal wear. Both original decals are still intact, and they are still complete and in excellent condition, with very little wear evident. The painted surfaces on the bell (both inside and out) are original. Nothing has been touched up or restored. The Cygnet crane is in good shape, with areas of oxidation, mostly on the lower portion.This is a desirable Standard Model \"D,\" capable of playing 2 minute cylinders as well as 4 minute cylinders. The machine comes with a slant front carriage and a \"C\" reproducer, which can be used to play 2 minute celluloid or black wax cylinders. If you would like to play later 4 minute cylinders, you\'ll need to use an \"H\" or \"K\" reproducer. (not included, but available from other vendors on and elsewhere.)I\'ll include with the phonographan excellent Edison Gold Moulded 2-minute cylinder, so it will be ready to play as soon as it arrives.I\'ve been selling and shipping antique phonographs, antique radios and antique scientific apparatus for more than 25 years.
