All sell !ITEM: This is an antique and original magic lantern colored glass slide advertising plate use for display in regional theatres. It heralds the upcoming showing of the silent film, \"On the Firing Line with the Germans\" (1915), a Industrial Moving Picture Company & Wilbur H. Durborough American-made documentarythat follows the Imperial German army as it pushes eastward through Poland during World War I. Some actual battle footage is included along with scenes of military camp life, convalescing soldiers, logistics and captured prisoners of war (English, French and Russian). After the battles are over, the film concludes with sobering views of the plight of the civilian population during the war.This film has been rediscovered and digitally restored by the Library of Congress in 2015. This slide was produced for distribution to local movie theatres to be used by theatre management as an original format for previews to be shown before the feature film. The blank box at the bottom of the slide would have a handwritten date to advertising the upcoming date(s) for the showing. A great piece of early cinema and World War I memorabilia.Measures 4\" x 3.25\"CONDITION: Fine condition with some crackling in the paint underneath the glass (the glass itself is not cracked) and some light, general storage/handling wear.
