1921 NATIVE AMERICAN SIOUX INDIAN CHIEF YELLOW HAWK SIGNED AND INSCRIBED PHOTO:
$57.00

Very rare and wonderful, 1921 Signed and Inscribed Portrait Photograph of Native American Sans Arc Sioux Indian Chief Solomon Yellow Hawk in full regalia. Yellow Hawk has signed, inscribed and dated the Photograph in the lower left hand quadrant.

This beautiful Photo measures approx. 7 7/8\" by 9 7/8\" and depicts the descendant of the Great Sans Arc Chief Yellow Hawk dressed in full and elaborate regalia including a full length, eagle feather headdress, elaborately bead decorated and fringed buckskin vest and leggings, beaded choker, bead decorated apron and beautiful, beaded Sioux Moccasins. He strikes a proud and stoic pose in full length with his right hand raised in salute.

The Photograph is signed and inscribed in ink that reads “To my friends / Mr & Mrs Robinson / Chief Yellow Hawk / April 2 - 1921”.

We believe that this is a portrait of Solomon Yellow Hawk often refered to as Yellow Hawk II. He was the son of the great Sans Arc leader Chief Yellow Hawk. While we could not find a lot of information regarding Solomon Yellow Hawk, we did find this blurb on him as a young by printed in the 1893 Hampton Normal School Report - “Solomon Yellow Hawk - full blood age 10 - not a tractable child by any means but greatly improved on his return Sept 25. He lived at home with his father for awhile and though he has had times of being very earnest and industrious has not done well on the whole being careless about his personal appearance and conduct. He is however young and may improve with experience. In April 92 he writes that he has bought seeds and tools and is about to start a farm of his own. He says also that he has given his father money for seeds and that he also will have a farm this year.”

This rare and wonderful, Chief Yellow hawk Signed and InscribedPhotograph is in very good condition. The Image itself is clean and crisp with no fading or discoloration. It exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich tonality. There is some light edge wear with a small crease and a small chip at the upper left hand corner. The signature is executed in blue fountain pen ink and is dark, bold and unfaded.

The Signature of Solomon Yellow hawk is unconditionally guaranteed original and backed by our “no questions asked” return policy and lifetime guarantee of authenticity. The Photograph will be accompanied by our own Certificate of Authenticity with a statement of our unconditional guarantee that the signature and inscription will be deemed to be in the hand of Solomon Yellow Hawk, authentic and original by any, 3rd party authentication service.

A very rare and wonderful, 1921 Signed and Inscribed Portrait Photograph of Native American Sans Arc Sioux Indian Chief Solomon Yellow Hawk and a fantastic addition to any collection!!
