Year: 1930 Description:Made from heavy gauge pressed steelthis high wing monoplane features three large cadmium plated rotatingpropellers. Using an ingenious spring connected pulley system, rotationof the landing wheels makes each propeller revolve. This in turn thiscauses the six red piston heads (18 total) surrounding eachengine to alternately \"pump\" up and down. At the same time a clickingnoise is emitted from the fuselage. Best of all.....Everything worksgreat exactly as it was intended 84 years ago!The tri-motor version of this plane doesn\'t show up too frequently. Asingle engine was also manufactured which, although found more often,is still difficult to locate in good condition. One main difference between the two; the top wing on thetri-motor version is not removable.The fuselage was painted green and has two die cut windows with aworking, latching red door on each side. The rear vertical stabilizer,rudders, and single main wing were all painted red. The engines,struts, and rear metal wheel were painted black. The main landing gearwheels are pressed metal disks with red painted hubs. Both have their complete original black rubber tire intact. The toothed gear (between thetwo wheels) and springs are bare metal. The center propeller still hasits original pull-string connector.Decals: Metallic silver \"Rapid Fire Mail Plane\" decals are on either side ofthe nose. Decals with the planes identification number are on eitherside of the upright vertical stabilizer. In addition it has a circularsix-sided star decal on each wing that are similar to the Army AirCorps insignia. All decals are original.Size: 25\" long, 24\" wingspan. Weight: Approx. 7 lbs. Condition: Verygood which is far better than the majority of these planes I\'ve seen. Many have been repainted. This one has seen light to moderate \"duty\" and hasn\'t any dings, dents,or rust corrosion and is all original. Although the top and edges of the fuselage have many randomscratches, the condition of the paint on the fuselage sides is due mostly to flaking. Much ofthe actual text on the nose decals has flaked off leaving the silverunder layer. However, the \"keystone\" outline and most of the details can stillbe read. Both main wing decals are in place; they\'ve acquired acouple scratches and are faded a little. The wing edges are scuffed andscratched predominately on the end tips and corners. The stabilizer and rudders aresimilarly scratched and also have some fading. The tires, althoughhardened from age are complete and turn easily. The cadmium platedpropellers are in good shape with just a tinge of surface rust near the centerhub. The props have only random scratches and faint surface rustscattered on the edges. The edges of the piston headsare worn, but they still look great. The raw metal internal springsand large gear (located between the two main wheels) have light surfacerust. All paint is original without any touch-up (verified by black light).All parts, including the screws securing the top wing to the fuselageare original. Rubber tires are complete.
