1937, 1938 1939 CWC WARDS HAWTHORNE 26\" Ballon tire antique bike PRE-WAR For Sale

When people pass away, I buy the entire contents of their estate. This bike came from the estate of a 92 year old doctor who lived a long and healthy life. When he was a child during the great depression, his parents owned and operated a very well known pawn shop here in Louisville, KY. Needless to say, he was the kid on the block who had everything he could have ever needed or wanted. During a time of trouble in the US economy, he would have stood out from the other kids cruising the streets no this maroon beauty.

As you can see from the pictures, this bike is completely original other than the chain guard and the kick stand (I\'m not so sure this model ever had a CG). The bike has 4 add-ons which it will come with if you buy it.

1.) The Clipper speedometer

3.) The KY VFW Bike safety badge

4.) The Pennzoil badge.

All of which are time period correct and in a like mannered condition for their age.

The bike has a maroon base color with black and white graphics. I took a wet rag and wiped a few spots on the bike to reveal that it won\'t take much to make this bike looking clean again. The GREAT thing about this bike is that it’s in not just original condition, but its in original working condition. Many of these bikes need a lot of TLC, missing parts and are rusted out, but this bike will be a gem to add to any collection.

The serial number is # B04885 which indicates the low number of these made as well as the year. Cleveland Welding Company was who made these. The CWC and date range makes these some of the most sought after antique bikes made by W/H…

When these pics were taken, the tires were flat and the bike was dirty. I\'ve since aired the tires and have ridden this bike. The smoothness and glide of the bike is remarkable and after riding it, I realized one reason why these are so sought after.
