1959-60 ~ 28\" Ideal SUZY SUZIE Play Pal Doll ~ Great Cheek Color ~ Cute Outfit For Sale

Adorable Strawberry Blonde Suzy / Suzie Playpal Doll. She was made by Ideal from 1959-60 only. She stands at around 28\" tall and comes with curly hair. This cutie has wonderful face color and is in good shape. She has blue green eyes (one is more green than blue) with full set of rooted lashes. She comes dressed in a replacement set of clothes. She has a sheer off white nylon dress with square snaps (vintage but probably not original). Underneath her dress, she has on a girl\'s slip and panties. Additionally, there are knit socks and replaced red shoes. I don\'t believe any of the clothing are original but I couldn\'t send her nude and this is what she was wearing when I got her from an estate sale. I\'ve recently come across a lot of vintage dolls and doll clothes. This sale is for a hard to find Playpal Doll by Ideal. She was made in 1959-1960 and is the Suzy / Suzie Playpal Doll. She stands at 28\" tall and comes with curly hair. The best part is that she has very nice face paint and is in good overall condition. She will be dressed but none of the clothing are original. She is being offered with .

Suzy is one of the Playpal dolls but Ideal and is a toddler doll. She stands at 28\" tall and is fairly heavy. I have included a couple of photos from my book, Collector\'s Guide to Ideal Dolls : Second Edition, by Judith Izen. These pictures can be seen on pages 209 and 210. She is considered to be Patti\'s one-year-old sister.

She has the hard vinyl head, hard vinyl arms and pink blown plastic body / legs. Suzy has strawberry blonde hair that is curly. The hair is fully rooted with little curls all over her head. I don\'t see any missing plugs. Some of the ends are a little frizzy but the hair is shiny.

This adorable little girl has a face that makes you smile. She has the vinyl head with great face color. Her eyebrows are dark rust brown with no fading or rubs. She has wonderful, big blue sleep eyes that work nicely. They are nice and clear with her full set of rooted lashes. She has odd eye color .. blue with green tints. However, the right eye is more blue than her left which is more green. It\'s not as noticeable in person but really showed up in the photos. Her cheek paint is high color. There is a small dirty spot on the right cheek with light fading. Thre are two small rubs on the left cheek .. one near the nose and the other on the opposite side. She has a sweet pink painted mouth that is open and showing her tongue. I don\'t see any rubs .. there are some dirty specks inside. There are a few dirty smudges on her face but nothing too bad. The back of her neck is marked (C) Ideal Doll / OB28-5.

Suzy has the nice pink blown plastic body and legs. The upper back is marked (C) IDEAL in oval / 28 / 1. The writing on her back is embossed and on her neck is incised.  The pink plastic looks to be in great shape. I don\'t see any cracks or major stains. There is light wear / scratches but that\'s from typical play. She has some light pinkish spots on the backs of her legs with some pin pricks / scratches. She doesn\'t walk if she\'s supposed to. She has hard vinyl arms with the correct hand molds (middle third and fourth fingers are down). Her arms have slightly faded but match her face pretty well. She has her complete set of fingers. There are some brown dirty spots / stains on her arms. She definitely needs a bath. Please see the many photos. Overall ... She\'s an adorable doll with a great face and in good shape.

Now for her clothes .. They are all replaced but look cute. She has a sheer nylon dress with peter pan collar, cotton girl\'s slip, girl\'s panties with pink and white lace ruffles on her rear, knit socks and red hard vinyl shoes.

The dress is off white in color and is fully sheer. It has a peter pan collar and short puffy sleeves. There is lace trim around the collar and across the bodice. Below the lace strand, there is smocking with pearlized threaded design across the bodice. The back of the dress closes with two square snaps. There are some brown dirty spots on the back of the dress. It definitely needs a soaking / cleaning. There are a couple of small holes on the back of the right sleeve. There is a zig zag stitch across the back that looks to have been added.

Underneath the dress, Suzy has a cotton slip in cream white and cotton panties with lace ruffles on rear. I believe both of these items belonged to a girl. They are a little big on her. The  slip has a flower decal with lace strands on the front. The skirt of the slip has ruffle with lace trim on the hem. The panties are knit cotton with pink and white lace ruffle trim on the rear. They are a little dirty and should probably be replaced.

The socks are a cream knit and may have also belonged to a child. They have a ribbed top with scalloped edging. They are dirty and need cleaning.

The shoes are a slip on type and made of a hard red vinyl. One shoe has a hole at the heel. They have some embedded stitch details. The shoes are a bit big but they will work till you find replacement ones.

Overall .. This is a cute Suzy Playpal doll with great face color. She is  looking for a new home. Don\'t Miss Out .. There\'s ! This sale will last for 7 days. Thanks for looking !
