1959 Lionel HO 0591 New Haven Rectifier Electric Locomotive:
$63.00

Let me first start off by stating that I am not a train expert and am not a TCA member. I do my best to honestly describe what I have for sale. If you see something that is not correct, please message me so that I can correct the listing. Thank you..!This listing is for a rare 1959 LionelHO 0591 New Haven Rectifier Electric Locomotive. This engine has the 1960\'s second generation motor, which is much improved over the 1959 motor.I have disassembled the frontand rear trucks, cleaned the pulleys, axlesand gears, oiled the shafts and reassembled with new drive belts and new rubber flex couplers. This one runs extremely well and fast in forward and reverse and has front and rear working headlights. It is missing one bottom step on the rear - see picture #1. The pantograph works pefectly.
For those of you that have never owned a rectifer - there is a small tab on one side under the pantograph that you have to push towards the rear to unlock the pantograph. When you push that tab to the rear, the spring loaded pantograph will pop up. To lock it back down, you press on the top of the pantograph and you will hear it click when it locks in place.
If you are a fan of the early Lionel HO, you know that all of these 1959 -1962eight wheel drive engines make noise, some more than others. The noise, whichcan sound like a roar, is caused by avibration. It is not a gear noise, as I have heard some say, but rather a vibration between the plastic shell and the metal chassis. If you remove the shell from the chassis and run it, it is quiet.Actually, it makes the diesel engines more realistic with thenoise rather than beingsilent.
Please study all the pictures and ask any questions that you may have...This sale is for the lower 48 United States only.
If you are an HO train enthusiast, please be sure to keep checking my other HO Train items for sale. I will be sellingmy largecollection that includesmost of all the engines and cars that were manufactured in the 1959 - 1962 era. I willbe listingmany complete sets from the 1959 - 1962 era. Some are in the original set boxes and some sets are without the set box. They are all complete sets in very good condition and all running.
