1962 Fender Blond Band-Master Amp / Model 6G7-A Ruff Tolex / Excellent Condition:

(If you need more pics, email me. However, I think these pics say it all. What they don\'t say, let me add here now.)

This is a very pristine \'62 Fender 6G7-A Band-Master and, yes, I have seen a few. It is unfortunate that someone tore off half of the tube chart but this was before my time with the amp. Replacements are out there but I never bothered. All the pots are original, all the electrolytic capacitors are original (with the exception of the one replaced dual cap on V2 and V3), all the signal coupling caps are original (Ajax Blues) and (Sprague) ceramics, and all the resistors are original (with the exception of the two 5 watt wire wound resistors on V7 and V8 (the power tubes). (I should note that the V8 socket was replaced by a previous owner - and he used a Fender socket but a version from the 70\'s. My tech has looked this over and cleaned up any connection issues, BTW.) The AC cord has been replaced with a grounded three-prong version, and here the AC wiring was corrected by my tech per the David Funk wiring description, i.e. the hot lead goes to fuse and then to the power switch. The AC return path (the white wire), is connected permanently to the PT primary, (note the floating stand-off on the PT bolt closest to V8 and see the white wire coupled to the black primary wire), and the chassis ground (green wire) is attached to a different PT bolt towards the outside of the chassis. The polarity switch at this point serves only as an option to add or subtract the former ground cap (.047/600VDC) to the AC hot lead at will. And here this would only come in handy if you plugged into an old style two-prong outlet, it adds no noise or risk of electrocution in either usage when (in the case of the two-prong outlet) you ground the little grey three-prong/two-prong adapter as suggested by USA code.

The amp has a considerable amount of DC voltage available. This stock PT plugged into the contemporary 122 volt AC wall socket found in the USA will deliver 505VDC to the power tube plates with a bias current draw of 24 mAs. There is no adjustable bias control in the amp and I elected not to add one. Instead I purchased J/J double mica 6L6GCs from a company here in town (Eurotubes) that sells tubes at the current draw point I need. Typically 25 mAs is the goal so these may be a touch cold - but not by much. The preamp tubes are older vintage USA versions of either long plate or short GEs and sound wonderful in the amp.

Another note about the stock resistors, all Allen Bradly from the day, they are working fine. There is no \'frying bacon\' sound from the plate resistor of the preamp tubes that sometimes plague the BF versions. This is a quiet/noise free example of a great Fender amplifier, sorry if that disappoints all you techs out there. The electrolytic caps as well sound great, no hum here. This amp needs nothing!

The amp is in 100% original vintage condition except for the serviced items mention above. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer example in this condition for this great price. Original ruff blond tolex, original flat Fender Logo, original White knobs and Grill cloth, but best of all the original Fender Dog Bone Handle which alone is worth several $$$ because they were used on the late 50\'s & early 60\'s tweed amps. Not to mention this amp sounds killer!! I am only selling it to raise funds for a different project other wise it is a keeper. World wide shipping but be prepared to pay the additional shipping charges and all and any customs for looking and check out my other sales!

Good luck and happy offerding!
