Up for grabs is an amazing Supro 1600r Supreme Amplifier. This is a ONE OWNER, all original vintage Supro closet-queen amp (See my other sale for the accompanying Harmony H74 guitar). It is in very good condition cosmetically and working condition. The tubes are all vintage RCA glass, the best you get. If you are looking for the ultimate amp for Jimmy Page or Led Zeppelin tones or just a killer sounding studio/gigging amplifier look no further. This amp is basically the same as the highly coveted Supro 1624T minus the 2nd channel with tremolo. In my opinion this amp sounds better than the 1624T. Not sure if it is the simpler circuit or the 10\" speaker but this amp has more character than the 1624T\'s I\'ve played and owned. This amp is rare because it denotes the 1600r which some had the hook up for a separate reverb unit. You can see the control panel has the layout structure for this but the jack was never installed at the factory. No changes to the circuit as it is the same as the typical 1600 Supreme...very cool.
This Supro utilizes (2) 6973, (2) 12ax7s, and (1) 5Y3 Tubes through (1) 10\" speaker. The original Jensen C10 speaker is in very condition and sounds really good which is even more rare. NOTE: As a collector I would replace the original a modern equivalent and store theoriginal in a box for safe keeping. The speaker is over 50 years old and while it sounds good it can not handle high volume and stay punchy on the bass notes like a modern speaker can.
The amp sounds incredible and is much larger sounding than its small size would suggest. This makes the amp an awesome grab and go type of amp. All (3) inputs sound significantly different, offering a range of rich, thin, loud and saturated tonal options. It produces fantastic overdriven crunch which seems to complement any guitar. This particular amp sounds great with both a Tele and a Les Paul. Bridging the inputs and plugging into the middle input takes this amp into another level of richness, volume, and saturation; almost as if you placed a great clean boost in the signal. The amp is very dynamic and responds very well to pick and volume changes. Useful for a number of applications, this is a rare vintage Supro in that it is much more than a one-trick pony, and offers a balanced array of cool and versatile tones.
