1963 Yonezawa, \"Modern Robot\" in Orig. Box w/Inserts:
$2809.99

New TemplateToy Name:Yonezawa, \"Modern Robot\" inOriginal BoxSuper scarce robotin rare original box with all three inserts.
Year: 1963 Description:One of the most difficult to find ofthe Cragstan-Yonezawa skirted battery operated robots is this \"ModernRobot\". Even harder to find is its rare original box... especially withall three original inserts. Adding to its scarcity is the super highgrade; near mint- to NM toy with near mint- to NM box! Even tougher would be tryingto upgrade this example. More likely this would be the one \"to upgradeto\". The toy is nearly identical to \"Cragstan Robot\" with the onlydifference being the name on the chest plate. \"Modern\" has a metallicdark silver body, red arms, lightning bolt yellow-red-black chestplate, and bulbous clear plastic head with plastic face details on a polishedmetal base. It moves with stop-and-go movement with swinging arms whileemitting sound. Inside the cranium the springs and dome lightsrevolve with flashing. The Yonezawa trademark was stamped into the underside of the base. The box (color and graphics) is also similar to Cragston Robot, butwith the Yonezawa trademark and, of course, the word Modern in place ofCragston. But that\'s where the similarity ends. Cragstan is findable,Modern is not. And having the three original inserts is \"topping on thecake\".Size: 11\". Condition: Gorgeous near mint- to NM with every action workingexactly as it\'s supposed to. And that\'s a very conservative grade. No slowness or hesitation with smoothlyrevolving \"brain\" and lights that flash. Litho surfaces are awesome; strongcolor, no fading, glossy, and no dings, dents, or scratches. Batterybox is spotless. The transparent head has no cracks, scratches, orchips. BUT he\'s not perfect. The head does have some faint circular, discontinuous scuffing from rubbing against the insert, plus a tiny line scuff just to the left and about a ½\" below the topof the bubble. This is probably best seen in the 3rd photo down whichshows the head lit up. The litho has somediscontinuous short rubs on the body underneath the battery door just above thelatch (from the door moving against the surface), as well as on the latch \"pad\" itself. Both can\'t be seen when the door isclosed. The black underside base has two short hairline scratches justbelow and to the left of the trademark (see photo). The black base section, againon the underside, has a short narrow wear line in one corner and on thevery tips of the two rest points. Now this might sound like a lot ofstuff because it\'s all spelled out, but it\'s really not. I just wanted to make sure everything was laid outbefore you. In my opinion the most influential condition point isprobably the one line short rub that I mentioned near the top of thehead. The box is like the toy; near mint- to NM...not perfect, but pretty close. Also it\'s a very conservative grade. Colors are awesome. Edges and corners are square, even, and withoutworn edges, and no repairs or touch-ups. But there are several condition points; on the front cover there\'s a 3\" narrow arccrease adjacent to the lower right edge plus three faint, shorthorizontal creases touching the left edge. Being super critical theleft front edge (adjacent to Saturn) has a 1\" line of discontinuouswear and some spotty edge tics by the white mountain on the right edge. The back panel also has a faint horizontal crease about 2\" long. Theleft panel has a small spot of hazy brown schmutz near it\'s lower edge and a teeny nick on one edge. The box bottom and the three inserts haven\'t any tears, dings, orwhatever. Not much that still exists from 1963 is perfect and the same goes here. But again, it\'s pretty close. Should the box and toy grade higher? Maybe, but I\'d rather err on the cautious side and spell everything out sothere are no surprises.
