Description

Here is a rare original JUNE 1968 Schwinn Stingray \"ORANGE KRATE\" 20\" Krate bike. (FD Serial Number) This bike is from the era when most everything was cool! (the HEMICUDA, Mach 1 Mustang, and Camaro Z-28 come to mind!)

*This is agruably one of the very COOLEST Schwinn bikes of all time! EVERY kid wanted one back in the day... few were lucky enough to own one. You did not see them often back in the day, and almost NEVER see them in any condition these days! They were designed after the drag racing muscle cars of the time! They hit the nail on the head with this one! They are SO cool!

*The bike is LOADED with cool options only found on the top of the line \"Krate\" series at the time. The bike has the cool correct \"cantalever\" 5-speed Schwinn frame, cool wide apehanger handlebars, matching orange Schwinn hand grips, accessory orange krate lever covers, chrome Schwinn SPRINGER front forks, cool Schwinn BOW pedals, 5-speed \"Mag\" sprocket, chrome rear fender, (the 68 model did not come with a front fender) cool rear SHOCKS sissy bar and so much more! It has the cool Schwinn front rim with the correct ATOM drum brake. The rear wheel is a 5-speed Schwinn S-2 rear wheel. Both front and rear tires hold air. The front tire is a Schwinn Superior. The rear is a slightly newer SLICK tire! Appears to be one of the only non original parts on the bike. (see pics and be your own judge)

*I dont know where you would find another like it! It is awesome! This one has its original screen ORANGE KRATE chainguard! (looks nice) The bike is an original 5-speed STICK SHIFT with operable hand controlled brakes. It shifts and brakes. The stick shifter has the original overload tube in place. (check out the Hurst which someone etched into it long ago, kind of cool but obviously not original) This bike has been in very long term storage and cannot wait to be enjoyed once again! The bike appears to be basically all original parts from when it was new! (see pics and be your own judge) I like the banana seat! It has stripe wear but is not all split up like most of them. (has some edge wear, see pics) It has the Stingray tag on the rear as well as the reflector tab! WOW!

*I was told this bike has spent the last 3+ decades in a clean dry city basement. Consequently, it is in relatively nice unrestored condition as you can see! Bikes like this rarely come along in any condition. ESPECIALLY one that has not been trading numerous times amongst collectors. Be the first to get this one out in the light and enjoy it. I had a very hard time deciding to part ways with this one. I came very close to putting this one in my own collection. Finds like this almost NEVER come along these days! I hope you enjoy it!

*AS FAR AS I CAN TELL the rear tire appears to be the only non original part on the bike. (see pics and be your own expert) I got it just like you see it and have nothing to hide.

*Now is your chance to own one of the COOLEST bikes EVER MADE! Make someone in your life happy with this one. This is a cool bike that you can enjoy for years! It is money in the bank and will only go UP in value! You RARELY find these bikes anymore! They were all abused and thrown away back in the 1970s-80s. Finding one these days is a big challenge. If you check out , the selection on any 1960s Stingray bikes is very little. They are very cool and people enjoy owning, riding, and displaying them! Most people do not sell these bikes once they have them. Be the first to get this bike back out in the light and have fun with it! I believe this to be a fairly nice original unmolested bicycle unless otherwise noted.

*NOTED FLAWS It is not 100% flawless but is ok for its age! The paint looks fairly good for a 40+ year old bike! (has chips scratches etc but is better than many I have seen over the years) The chrome is shiney but is not perfect show quality. Both wheels have a slight wobble when you spin them. (seems every used bike out there does too) This is a great find! ENJOY! If you click on any of the pics they get very large to show lots of detail. Please take a look at all pics for exact condition and email with any questions before you offer.

Either way it is SUPER COOL and they are AWESOME bikes! Most people do not sell them who have them. I hope you love it! With a little tlc, you will have a really cool bike that will only go UP in value! A good \"fixer upper\" type bike or possibly use it for its very valuable hard to find parts! They are not hard to find and not very expensive! If you click on any of the pics they get very large to show lots of detail. Please take a look at all pics for exact condition and email with any questions before you offer.

*These bikes are cool! Flawless originals sell for thousands of dollars! Own this one for much less! People will ABSOLUTELY LOVE seeing you riding this one! Take it to a car show or cruise night! People remember these but never see them these days! People will talke about you and your cool bike for years! ENJOY THIS ONE!

*Sorry for the LONG description, these bikes really excite me. This awesome ride starts low with ABSOLUTELY so offer early and don\'t miss out! This will sell to the high buyer! Sorry, no buy it now is offered. People will ENVY you when you ride by at a car show or on the street with this bike! Sold as is because it is used. I try to list anything I notice with the bike. Keep in mind this is a vintage bike that has probably not been ridden for a while so it may need minor tuning, bearings greased, polishing, etc, These bikes are getting harder to find and are more popular than ever before! You will enjoy owning, riding, and displaying it for years! People always remember these bikes but seldom see them in person. Your new vintage bike will be shipped partially disassembled in a factory bike box. I take them in to have them packaged so they almost always arrive in the same condition as they left us. You may want to consider insurance, just in case. Once it has shipped, I cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items without insurance.

*SHIPPING TIME I ship bikes on Tuesdays and Fridays via Fed Ex. Generally, if I receive your payment by 1 pm central time on Monday, it allows me enough time to get your bike to the shop for packing and to ship along with the Tuesday AM shipment. If I receive your payment by 1 pm central time on Thursday, it gives enough time to have it packed and ship Friday AM. If paid after that time, please expect it to go out with the next shipment.
