1972 Schwinn Chrome Paramount, frame #L7266, with beautiful lug work. Everything on this bicycle is original!! I am selling the bicycle for adeceased friend, and don't know all the particulars of the bicycles, but will include as much information as I have, and will answer all questions to the best of my knowledge.
This bicycle was purchased in the mid- 1970's and never ridden. It was stored in an open air garage, so the decals have degraded over time, and there is rust on the chain, headset, spokes, and front fork. I cleaned the frame, and it sparkles! There are no scratches, marks, dents, or rust of any kind on the frame itself. Of course, the tires, tubes and brake lever covers will need to be replaced. Just a little cleaning and TLC and this bicycle will be gorgeous!

I have heard from a very knowledgeable person who says that the Campy side pull brakes are not original. The bicycle, when manufactured, had Weinman center pull brakes. I don't know if this is important to anyone, but in the spirit of full disclosure, I wanted to point this out.

Another update about the bicycle. Several Schwinn scholars have pointed out that the Campy side pull brakes were offered by Schwinn as an upgrade to the standard Weinman center pull brakes. The cranks, shifters, front derailleur, brakes, and seat post are Campy Nuovo Record. Also, this bicycle is a P-15, referring to the 15 gears (front triple, and 5 rear gears).

One more question answered about the rear derailleur. Several people inquired about the Campy Rally rear derailleur when all the other components were Nuovo Record. Another very helpful person emailed me and said that the 1972 Paramounts did come originally with the NR rear derailleur, but it did not shift very well. When the new, much improved Rally was issued in 1975, many owners upgraded to the better derailleur. So, that is how the Rally rear derailleur came to be installed.
Thanks again to all the wonderfully helpful Schwinn afficianados who have given me a thorough education!
