1979 Xavier Roberts \"Little People\" Soft Sculpture Doll 22\" Signed and Gold Tag For Sale

This is a vintage original Xavier Roberts \"Little People\" doll. It is a pre-Cabbage Patch Kids soft sculpture doll dating from 1979. It is all cloth and is signed on the bottom, \"Xavier 79\".Little People dolls were precursors to the Cabbage Patch Kids line of dolls. They were created by American art student Xavier Roberts in 1978. This is one of the original dolls, such as were sold at local craft shows and Roberts\' shop \"Babyland General\" in Cleveland, Georgia. This doll measures 22\" long and has thick brown yarn hair and brown eyes. Like all of the earliest Xavier Roberts dolls, it is all fabric. It is tagged with a gold \"The Little People\" tag and has a hand signed signature on the butt. The doll is in very good to excellent condition without any damage or bad odors. The only soiling that I can find are one little spot on her chin and two other small spots on her upper lip. These are visible in the ninth photo. She is otherwise clean and unfaded. I am not sure whether any of the clothes that she is wearing are original to her. I am selling her for a friend of mine who has to downsize her very large doll collection. My friend had this doll dressed in multiple layers of clothing. I suspect this was done to protect the doll and keep her clean while she was in storage. Dolly is wearing a white and yellow undershirt and matching underpants, a cute robot spaceman tee shirt, white nylon tights, and a very 1980s looking aqua blue jogging suit with oversized baby shoes.While she does not come with a \"birth certificate\" or other paperwork, this wonderful, handmade vintage doll would make a fantastic addition to any collection.
