19th Century French, Gilt Bronze Tazza/Compote Neoclassical :

A stunning finely cast French gilt bronze compote/tazza or centerpiece.

Elaborately decorated in a  neoclassical theme in high relief chased bronze.

The center of the bowl with a large "Medusa's" head inside a laurel reef.

The center pedestal stem with tripod mythological figures supporting the bowl.

The underside of base is marked with the initials A.D. under a star, "Aguste-Maximilien Delafontaine" 1813-1892.

The tazza is in very good condition.

Surface age related wear and mellow patina.

There is a small rough area to rim, probably a ding repair, not noticeable.


Weighs 2lbs.11ozs


The tazza measures 6.25" wide and 5.75" tall.
