This is a lovely Ideal doll from the 1960\'s. I have tried to research who she is but I can\'t seem to find the exact one. (If anyone knows for sure, please contact me with the info!) She looks like a small version of Patti Playpal but I can\'t find a Playpal that came with braids. Some have listed a similar doll under the name Terry Twist but I found no info on that name either.
I did find this vintage catalog page that lists a 25\" braided Ideal as \"Miss Ideal\" so that\'s what I\'m going with. :)
Whoever she is, she has an adorable face with high-color. She is jointed at the neck, waist, shoulders hips and ankles. The ankle joints are stuck and I did not want to force them. I will leave that to the buyer. Her shoulder joints are loose and the arms won\'t hold a pose. Her sleep eyes work fine.
She has a nice, clean body and I just washed and set her hair, so her braids are tidy. As I washed her hair I could see plugs missing but the braids are still relatively full. The ends of the braids are a little choppy. I tried to even them out but I think she had a hair cut at some point.
I think she may be some sort of walker as she has metal rods in her legs as you can see on the bottom of her feet.
She is marked (c) IDEAL TOY CORP / SP-25-S on her neck and (c) IDEAL TOY CORP / P-25 on her back.
PLEASE SEE PHOTOS FOR THE FOLLOWING FLAWS;
- One of her bright blue eyes is not as clear as the other.
- She has a \"pinhole\" in her thumb.
- She has some grey discolored areas on her back.
- She has discoloration above her left eyebrow and on her left cheek.
She is not wearing her original clothes but a period dress that I modified to fit and added a homemade red petticoat. She has no panties, socks or shoes.
