For your consideration: A quite unusual 3\" Civil War Hotchkiss Percussion shell. This shell is a non-dug \"drop\" and is in mint condition with perfect metal and not a hint of pitting. It has a very clearly marked Patent date of 1855 on the base. Likely a pre-war shell, it is a percussion round that must have fallen into Confederate hands at some point because it has a CSA copper time fuze plug installed. It was certainly not uncommon for the Confederates to repurpose any ammo they captured. I wish this one could talk! It comes with a well made steel display stand.
