The film comes on five reels.
I have owned this print since 2000 but have never actually run it through a projector. It has sat in the back of my closet (cool, dry, dark storage) for 16 years.
Having said that I cannot make any definitive judgement as to the condition. But here is what I can tell you.
The reels appear complete with heads (and I assume tails).
Since this print was struck using Kodak film stock, the color has turned a \"pinkish\" color to varying degrees on all 5 reels. This is very common for any 40 year old film struck on Kodak film. I would suspect most of the original 1978 prints have turned color to some degree.
From what I can see on the edge of the reels, it looks like each reel may have two or three splices.
To the best of my knowledge this print does not have \"vinegar syndrome\". It does have a mild \"film\" smell which is no stronger than it was 16 years ago.
The guy I bought the print from ran a drive-in theatre and showed it for a few years as a special feature on Halloween night. He claimed the print ran without any issues but he would use a cyan (blue) colored filter over the projector lens to help restore the image.
If you are a film purist looking for an amazing print, this is probably not what you\'re looking for. If you are a huge \"Halloween\" fan who wants to say they own an original 35mm print of their favorite movie, then this would be for you. That was the reason I originally bought it. They certainly aren\'t making any more of these!
I\'ll be happy to answer any questions I can. I have included pictures of each each reel to give you an idea of the color quality. It is a Scope print, so the images will look distorted and squished which is normal for \"Scope\" prints.
