50\'s Raytheon four transistor radio-model T-100-3-black & red plastic w/brass For Sale

Here is an early historictransistor radio made by the Raytheon Corp. It is a model T-100-3 and features a blackand red plastic case with brass dial& fittings. The case measures 6.375\" long by 3.375\" wide by 2\" deep. It has no cracks, chips or hairlines in it. It does have some scuffs and there are a couple of paint spots on it on the bottom left back cover (see photo)that could be removed carefully. The battery box is clean and corrosion free.It has a neat \"Atomic\" design on the front.

This is the first plastic transistor radio that Raytheon made with only four transistors. They invented the RF type transistor that was used in this model and sold it to many other manufacturers at the time. Raytheon only made transistor radios for one year, from 1955 to 1956, theyconcentrated onmissile electronics after that.

This radio used a 9v. battery that is no longer made. I tried it out with a standard 9v. battery by holding it on the connector. It came on with a lot of static but no stations. I did not want to take it apart as I think you have totake the dial off to do it, so I will leave it to someone who knows how to repair it.

This would make an excellent addition to your early American transistor collection. I have on this quality made in the USA radio and the buyer will pay actual shipping costs by USPS.
