This is a very large and very special axe. It is from the collection of Chief Joe Dan Osceola of the Seminole. He is the
Chief that transformed the Miccosukee Seminole from an impoverished to a wealthy tribe. During his time as Chief
and Ambassador to other Native American groups, he was given many gifts of appreciation and artifacts.
This is one, a very special and rare double grooved ceremonial axe made out of a mottled or mixed high quality
steatite most likely from the Southern Appalachian area. Very beautiful as can be seen from Photos.
One side completely black, the other mottled .Pictures do not convey the beauty.
They do demonstrate the lapidary work and staining and patina present on this axe.
8 1/2\" long, 2 1/2\" wide, 2 1/2\" thick
Pictures demonstrate authenticity. 14 day right
of inspection.
