ANTIQUE 1871 LETTER SUTLIVE & GRAHAM DRY GOODS FORT GAINES GEORGIA CLAY COUNTY: $19.99
Please email with any questions. 9 3/4" by 7 3/4" off-white faintly lined paper dated November 1871, sent to hardware merchants in Macon, Georgia by Sutlive & Graham dry goods merchants in Fort Gaines, Clay County. The letter refers to a cooking stove for a customer and also some castings that were consigned to the Macon business. According to the 1870 census of Clay County, James Sutlive was a 39 year old dry goods merchant born in Tennessee. The only "Graham" I found in that year's census was named William, who was a railroad agent.
