ANTIQUE WOOL COVERLET - 1838 - DOVER TOWNSHIP - YORK, PENN - M. HOKE - AAFA For Sale

If you love original antique coverlets this is another good one we are offering here now for you! The early salmon and blue colors and floral design with old PATENT wording around the bottom border is unique. Please study the pics for a more accurate description. It\'s MUCH better in person than they show too. :)
This measures about 84 x 96 and the pics you see were taken outside in natural daylight so you can see the true colors of this sweet old survivor. Good early salmon and deep indigo blue with a cream background and it\'s reversible. We don\'t edit our pics so what you see are the real colors depending on your screen type you view with.
This is dated 1838 as you see on the two corners and was made by M. HOKE of Dover Township in York, Pennsylvania. You can do an internet search for more info and history on that if you so desire.
Overall this is still in good shape with a couple of old original repairs done with antique workwear cotton fabric to patch with that have been there awhile but please study the pics for more info. We think they give this sweet old treasure some character. If you want a pristine museum quality perfect one this isn\'t for you but if you want a rare survivor that has many goode years left of use or display this one is what you need. You might choose to give it a soak in Borax rinse or other mild cleaner if you decide to clean it your way but it\'s quite clean now with no bad odors or other apologies and just has that usual antique textile storage smell that we kind of enjoy because we love these old pieces of the past and the scent of old fabrics and especially wool is one you don\'t find just anywhere these days unless you are an early textile collector like us with a purist appreciation of the handmade fabric history. Again please study the pics and message us before buying if you have questions. If you need a good early coverlet for your antique textile profitable projects like Santas or pillows or table runners or even a trade show display etc this is a good one for those but I never had the heart to cut it up for mine and will leave that up to you if that\'s your purpose for buying it. There\'s a lot of good fabric here and lots of great repurposing could be achieved but again I only cut up antique textiles if they are totally thread bare and beyond saving any other way.
