OK, Let\'s just get this out of the way right up front - this old vise is obviously - Cosmetically Challenged - the vise was laying outside in the dirt and was heavily rusted when purchased. I wire wheeled the vise and obviously it is heavily pitted and damaged from the rust and one of the jaws has been repaired. The jaw connecting & pivot bolt was rusted solid - I had to cut it to get the vise apart - saved both ends of the bolt - could be restored period correct if someone so desired - otherwise will need new bolt (see pics).
If nothing else - what a great conversation piece! Using the zoom feature - please refer to all 12 pictures for measurements.
Ok having said all that - we have for your collection / retro tool display / picture prop - 53 lbs of Old Time Character & Experience in the form of an Antique - 5\" Blacksmith Post Vise - that would obviously appear to have been used hard for a VERY long time! The old vise does turn freely - I kept wire wheeling trying to find some identification (don\'t worry I left you lot\'s of cleaning to do) - I did not find any identifying marks except for the date of - 1903 - on one of the jaws (see pic).What can we say - please take a good look at all (12) pictures, again please look at all the pictures - I am not going to try and detail all the cosmetic and wear issues of this antique tool - because people - I am flat telling you - this vise obviously shows lot\'s of wear / wear cracks / welding and grinding marks / lots of bumps/bruises - saw cut marks - hammer strikes and grease residue (see pics)! Once again - this vise is being sold for display purposes only and/or parts - not use-able in present condition - will need repair and/or restoration.Just a reminder: what you see is what you will be getting - and once more - Price Includes Shipping!
