Antique 1920\'s Celluloid FIGURAL Powder Compact METROPOLIS Movie Era Rare Box For Sale

Offering a Spectacular Figural Celluloid Art Deco Compact. This amazing 1920\'s case reflects the art & culture of the time. Design and Fashion takes it\'s inspiration from Fritz Lang\'s extraordinary 1927sci-fi silent film \"Metropolis\". This piece appears to resemble the character Maria after her transformation in the movie \"Metropolis\". (See the youtube link below)She has the industrialArt Deco silver headpiece or hat, curly flapper hair-style, pouty red lips and piercing eyes with with thick, black mascara. It\'s possible this was a movie promotional item or party favour. As a lady\'s early compact, I believe it sends the subliminal message that this makeup will betransformational.The celluloid lid is all one piece and all original. No warping, cracks or breaks. A few surface scratches. The edge of the case has matching silver deco detailing. The lid pulls off to reveal the mirror with obvious age but still reflects quite well. The powder box base is in very good condition. This super rare compact measures 2.25 inches indiameter and 1 inch deep.Fabulous, Scarce Antique Find!!!
