Antique British 1913 Pattern Bayonet - Rare Winchester Model #2211009.The bayonet's full length is 21.75" and the blade is 17".The P1913 Bayonet was officially introduced into British service on 21 June 1916. The P1913 Bayonet was made under contract in the USA by Remington and Winchester. The production date of this bayonet is January 1917. By the end of WWI, Winchester had produced 225,000 of these P1913 Bayonets and Remington produced far more at 1,243,000. Thus, making the Winchester more rare. The 17" blade has a deep single fuller on both sides and a rounded spine. The blade has an anti-reflective matte grey finish. On one side, it is stamped with the pattern date of 1913, the production date of 1-17, and Winchester's maker's mark, a capital W. On the other side, it has two inspection stamps, a bend test X, and the War Department arrow. This is a really neat and rare piece ready for any military collection!
There is some normal wear appropriate with age and movement including some scratches and scuffs. The cross guard and pommel have some of the original blueing and the wooden hilt scales are in great condition for their age. The press stud locking mechanism still works perfectly. The blade has a factory edge with no additional attempts at sharpening. Very minimal rust! Just needs a good cleaning. It does not come with a scabbard.
