Absolutely beautiful cast brass statue of a Buddha possibly from Southeast Asia (Thailand or Burma) standing on a circular pedestal. One hand forms a Vitarka mudra, a gesture of intellectual discussion and Buddhist teachings. His shoulder and head are framed by a disc shaped halo. Size: 4.25\" W x 15.30\" H (10.8 cm x 38.7 cm). The statue figure has a really nice natural patina and weighs a little over 5 lbs. The base is filled with some sort of masonry mix, including small stones. Above the pedestal is cast brass metal.
This piece was obtained at sale and carries no COA. The statue show bumps and scuffs associated with previous ownership and long-term storage including a small rub on the left cheek with brass showing through the surface patina. Its not really noticeable unless you are looking for it, see last pic...No attempt to clean or alter the piece was performed.
