Antique Fish Platter & 10 Plates, Red & Gold Porcelain Austria
A lovely antique set of 10 plates and accompanying platter / tray. The main platter measures 23 inches long and 9.75 inches wide, and is raised. The decoration is a pike hiding in the weeds waiting to ambush its prey. A small baitfish looks on. The platter has a hairline crack along one of the raised sides, but this is unnoticeable from the front and is purely cosmetic in nature. Otherwise, condition is excellent as per photos.
The plates are 8.5 inches in diameter, and are also in the matching red/burgundy and gold decoration. Eight plates are in excellent condition, and two have only very, very slight hairline cracks, again only noticeable on the bottom of the plates. There are two plates featuring brook trout; two featuring northern pike; two that are perhaps a barbel or tench; two single different river fish; and another set of small panfish.
Overall the condition of the collection is very nice as described above, with strong colors, only minor loss of paint, and normal shelfwear.
Shipping
Such special items demand special attention. All will be wrapped in new, acid free tissue paper, appropriate foam and paper padding, and then doubly boxed with ample protection and sturdy materials. Insured with signature required by adult. I would prefer to ship UPS and would select the service based on buyer location that would likely incur the least amount of movement.
