  • ~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~

~~*~ This beautiful, small duvet cover dates from the early 1900\'s. These textiles are beautiful used as is for a small comforter cover, but also the fabric is stunning used for upholstery etc! ~*~ ~ A gorgeous textile indeed This lovely textile is a hand woven, medium to heavy weight cotton ~ The front is a beautiful plaid design that uses both red and blue in the weave. ~ The ground tone of the ground is just off from white . This textile is backed in the same fabric with the button closure at the top, wonderful!!! ~*~ This textile would be stunning stuffed with a feather comforter and used on a bed, or lovely kept at the bottom of a bed and pulled up for chilly nights ~ A wonderful soft texture ~*~ ~ Beautiful rare plaid design ( cover 2412)

MEASUREMENTS : This textile measures 30 inches wide by 71 inches long ~

Condition: This wonderful textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition with light storage dust. Please use the zoom feature to view condition ~*~ Simply machine wash on cold with normal detergent. I like to add a fabric softener to the final rinse! ~~

The word Kelsch is a Germanic word, taken from \"Kolnisch Blau\", which refers to a plant grown primarily as animal feed, (whose leaves and stems were the sources of an old blue dye) For centuries ( as early as the 7th century) the plant, along with hemp and linen, was the main crop cultivated in eastern France and neighboring Germany. In the 18thcentury, the word kelsch came to describe the hand-woven linen and hemp cloths made in the French region of Alsace, usually woven by poor rural farmers. These textiles were hand loomed on narrow looms, and seamed together by their selvages to form wider widths for larger textiles. When pillow cover and mattress covers were created using these wonderful fabrics, they were sew together in large or small envelopes withopenings for stuffing. These textiles were either stuffed with straw or feathers for use as mattress covers, duvet covers and pillow cases ~*~
