Antique Jerome & Co. Mantel Clock - Original label, Brass Pendulum Bob, Brass key.
This clock was found in Maine, at an antique store . The owner of the store stated that one of her dealers refurbishes and repairs old clocks like the one I found
Here is what I noted on this clock:
- Brass movement appears to have been replaced with a newer one, which ONLY HAS 1-WINDING ARBOR, which runs the clock movement. There is NO WINDING ARBOR for the bell/ strike, so this clock no longer will chime , but it will run fine!
- wood case appears to have been Shellaced or polished.
- back wood piece has some old glue repair on seams.
- hands anchor pin may have been replaced?
- door swivels have some replacement tacks) nails
I did wind up the clock, attached the pendulum Bob, gave it a push, and the clock started running, ticking good, keeping time. I did run it for about a week, winding it about every 30 hours. I adjusted the pendulum Bob to fine-tune it. The pendulum does move up/ down on the wire and has a nut on the threaded wire for adjusting ( up for faster, down for slower)
Everything else on the clock looks original, painted glass piece on door looks pretty good, a few wear marks on the design, paint.
The face looks good shows typical age crazing
Nice looking small shelf clock. Needs to be on a level surface for running.
