TALK ABOUT AMAZING THAT THIS Has has lasted thru time this long...... but it is so Fabulous. old Mexican sombrero made from the finest straw & weaved with such an interesting old weave - it is masterfully created.the straw is beautifully weaved onto the hat & you can tell this is ancient, I am wondering if it is pre Velvet Mexican Sombrero hats. I have never seen anything like it anywhere & I have scoured antique malls for years. I especially like the twist with the dingle balls. But it is really Charro style too.
Please study the photos below BUT Overall a really great hat & a great conversation piece. There is some damage from age namely a couple areas near the rim between the rim & the woven edge piece are fraying a bit.But as I said it is a wonder this hat lasted as long as it did & stayed in as good of condition it isin for the fragility of the strawweaving.see pictures. The fact that this is used is what makes theseold charro or sombrerohats so wonderful . inside of the hat has a fine leather piece that protects the hat from the head & also embossed \"6 7/8\" for hat size. No maker label. the hat band is taup cotton rope & has a fine mother of pearl piece to help cinch the hat. The entire hat measure approx 19.5\" in diameter. Mexican hats, usually only fit small heads but this one actually measures approx almost 22\" around the head. that is an approximate. hat curls up a bit & holds the fine woven piece at the end that holds the dingle balls. This is a wonderful hat. you will love it.wonderful for your rustic western decor. see pictures below.
