Antique Native American Northern CA Coiled Pine Needle Basket With Lid - In excellent condition.
- I have owned since 1980 bought in Santa Rosa CA antique shop. I was told 1950 - 1960 and Maidu Tribe
- Doing my research using \"Indian Baskets of North America \" by Dr. Frank W. Lamb hardcover book signed by the author. 1972 First Edition.
- The basket has a horizontal weave of pine needles and woven with grass. Redbud used for the dark brown band near the top
- tightly woven with tight fitting lid and finial
- 4.5 in tall including finial
- 5.5 in across
- I will include in the sell what I have identified here with a picture of item, so that the history so far will be saved.
- I don\'t like that I cannot find a Maidu weave that looks like mine. I have seen the horizontal with the papago baskets but they are not as intricate. I have seen an Alaskan Tununak weave that is similar.
- Further study needed.
