Antique Pre Prohibition Jos Fleming\'s Pittsburg Old Export Whiskey Paperweight For Sale

This scarce pre-prohibition whiskey paperweight dates from sometime around the turn of the century and is ready to ship. It measures approximately 4\" x 2 1/2\" and is in really nice shape for its age with crisp colors and very little wear. It reads \"Physician\'s Should Recommend Fleming\'s Old Export Whiskey Guaranteed Eight Years Old Jos Fleming & Son Wholesale Druggists Pittsburg PA\" around a great image of their signature square bottle.

Joseph Fleming and his son, George, were part of a prominent Irish family of druggists in Pittsburg and turned their drug store rectifying operation into a well known Whiskey powerhouse. Located at Market and Diamond Street, the company advertised their \"Flemings Old Export Whiskey\" across America and bottles similar to the one on this paperweight have been found all over the country, including one recently found in a State Park in California! As druggists, they advertised the medicinal benefits of their whiskey with statements such as \"Physicians Should Recommend\" which helped them survive longer than other distillers as the Prohibition loomed. They closed when the National Prohibition came into effect in 1920 and never reopened when it was repealed in 1934
