ANTIQUE VASELINE FLINT GLASS
OPEN SUGAR & CREAMER
Available for purchase is anantique flint glass creamer and open sugar set in the canary (vaseline) color. The design is a band of oval thumbprints above 2 bands of flattened diamonds. The top edge and foot have a scalloped edge. Both pieces are approximately 5 3/4\" tall. The set appears to be quite old with ground bases, numerous inclusions, and other imperfections typical of mid-19th century glass. The glass is thick and very heavy. The set glows brightly under a black light (see last photo).Despite my best online research efforts and posting on several glass forums, I\'ve been unable to identify the pattern or maker of this set. Most glass experts seemed to agree that the set was likely made in the northeast portion of England circa 1850-1870. Edward Moore & Company made a very similar pattern (#72) that was pictured in the 1862 Exhibition International Catalogue. Sowerby Glass is another possible maker. And one glass expert felt like this set was most likely made by Greener & Company (known as Angus & Greener till 1869). Regardless, the set is quite old and must be very scarce. I\'ve only seen a single other example of one of these pieces pictured online (the creamer). No manufacturer attribution was provided. I purchased this set at an estate sale several years ago. Both pieces are guaranteed to be genuine 19th-century canary flint glass and not modern reproductions. Please check my positive response and buy with confidence from a trusted seller.Condition of this vaseline glass creamer and sugar bowl set is GOOD. The creamer has a few shallow flakes on the edge of the foot (see photo). I don\'t see any other chips or cracks, but there are numerous manufacturing imperfections (bubbles, white inclusions, and straw marks). The set isn\'t perfect, but it looks fantastic and displays beautifully. It would make a fine addition to any antique glass collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I\'ve provided and judge condition for yourself. I\'m confident you\'ll be very pleased with this purchase. If you collect antique glass, particularly early vaseline or English made pieces, don\'t miss your opportunity to purchase this offering. As I mentioned earlier, this pattern appears to be quite scarce. You may never see this pattern again. My Buy It Now price of only $149 is a bargain for such a rare set in any condition. So, buy this set now before someone else beats you to the deal! While you\'re here, please check out my other listings by clicking on the link below.
